The Power of Music in the Midst of Difficult Times
As we approach the season of carols this year, we wonder…
will we be able to light our candles and sing our “Silent Nights?”
But what if... instead of turning away from this moment in sorrow, we embrace it and turn our attention toward the stories of the indelible human spirit that has always been accompanied by the power of music to illuminate the dark night? What if we found other ways–unforgettable ways– to fill the void left by our loss? To "fill the night with music and light?" What if we gain more insight about the significance of the birth of Jesus, the life that was the "light" for the people?

Watch the movies together as a family.

Friends of Cass Christmas Store,
We hope this finds you safe and healthy during this very challenging time. With the leaves falling and the season changing, our thoughts are moving toward planning for Christmas and the Thirteenth annual Cass Christmas Store. And while our world doesn't look the same, Christmas is not canceled and the need remains high.  We have re-imagined the Christmas store and to keep everyone safe, things are going to look different this year. We will still be providing gifts and essentials for children affiliated with Cass programs and parents will have the opportunity to provide input and wrap their children's gifts.

Option One: Sponsor a Child currently in a CCSS program:
· Cass caseworkers are working with parents to compile information about each child including age, sizes, clothes, and toy suggestions. We hope to preserve the spirit of the store by allowing parents to choose the items they hope to give their child.
· Donors will sign up to sponsor a child and provide gifts for Christmas ($50-$75/child)
· Sign up here to Sponsor one or more children; email us at  if you can't access the google doc form and we will assist you.
· We will match you with children starting in early November with all gifts delivered by December 13 (more information will be provided when you're matched).
Option Two: Donate Gifts "in bulk" to Support Additional Children
· But wait, you say!! I shopped the clearance sales as you asked me to and I have a stockpile of random gifts at my house!? We need those too!  The Cass staff and the Christmas store elves will sort these gifts and fulfill gift requests for those last-minute Christmas needs (Rotating shelter).  We will still be accepting general donations (new and unwrapped) at the World Building.   Call in advance at: 313-883-2277 to arrange a drop-off.
· Haven't shopped yet but love the idea? Use this Amazon Wishlist or hunt for your own deals and have your packages shipped directly to: Att'n Cass Christmas Store to 11745 Rosa Parks Blvd Detroit MI 48206
· These new and unwrapped donations will need to be received by December 18th.
We have been so fortunate to receive your generous donations of gifts and volunteer time in past years and we hope that you will support us this year. While we will miss the joy of being together for the Christmas store, we take comfort in keeping the spirit of Christmas alive through our 2020 modified program.

Should you be willing to commit to a larger donation or know someone who will, please reach out directly. Now more than ever, we need generosity.
With our gratitude,

The Cass Christmas Store Elves-  Kierstin Koellner, Pam Vandekerkhove, and Amy Bouque
