YOUTH MISSIONS

On Saturday, July 25, 2020, Chelsea First United Methodist Church hosted a benefit concert on Facebook Live to raise funds for Faith In Action.  The concert featured many performances from church members and youth.  If you missed the concert live, please view the video for the concert above.

In 2011, EMU grad Emmanuel Jones launched Mentor2Youth after accepting the invitation from a friend to observe his final course project at Parkridge Community Center. While there, Emmanuel was appalled by the lack of resources available.   His mission at M2Y is to ensure that youth have a promising future by preparing them to excel in life, academics, and hard work.  Their vision is to provide a school to career pipeline for disadvantaged youth in Washtenaw County by 2022.

Approximately 5 years ago, youth from Chelsea First had the opportunity to work with the children at Parkridge Community Center in Ypsilanti, Michigan.  We encouraged each other through structured programs, play, crafts, outings to Concordia, and listening in the quiet spaces of free time.

In the late spring of 2019, a member of Chelsea First purchased a home in Jackson to renovate, using the profits from the sale of the house to support Mentor2Youth’s mission and vision.  With the exception of weeks spent sheltering in place, work has steadily moved forward toward our goal of placing the house on the market in early September of 2020.

You show that you are a letter from Christ, the result of our ministry, written not with ink but with the Spirit of the living God, not on tablets of stone but on tablets of human hearts. - 2 Corinthians 3:3 (NIV)
