Welcome! We at Chelsea First United Methodist Church value music as a very important part of our worship experiences.  We are truly blessed with so much musical that complement our many ensembles praising God every Sunday.  Ensembles are open to everyone.  There is always plenty of room for your participation.  Please consider giving one of our wonderful groups a try.

Vocal Choirs

Chancel Choir (Adult)

The Chancel Choir is open to all adults who love to sing praise to the Lord.  They participate at the 11:00 a.m. worship service from September-May.  Rehearsals are on Wednesday evenings from 7:30-9:00 p.m.  Literature ranges from the classics to fresh upbeat choral arrangements written by today's composers.  You do not have to be an experienced musician to join this group!  New voices are always needed and encouraged to join.  Their director is Kyle Webber and their accompanist is Suzanne Fraker.

Contemporary Choir (Adult)

The Contemporary Choir is open to all adults who love to sing praise to the Lord.  They participate at the 8:30 a.m. worship service from September-May and rehearse on Sunday mornings from 9:45-10:30 a.m.  Literature focuses on sacred music that is less formal, upbeat, rhythmic, and fresh.  You do not have to be an experienced musician to join this group!  New voices are always needed and encouraged to join.  Their director is Donna Palmer and their accompanist is Brian Brill.

High School Youth Choir (9th - 12th Grade)

The High School Youth Choir is for youth in grades 9-12th and contributes in the 8:30 a.m. service once a month.  They rehearse on Wednesday evenings from 6:45-7:15 p.m.  All are welcome.  Their director is Kyle Webber.

Middle School Youth Choir (6th - 8th Grade)

The Middle School Youth Choir is for youth in grades 6-8th and contributes in the 11:00 a.m. service several times during the school year.  They rehearse on Wednesday from

5:15-5:45 p.m.  All are welcome.  Middle School Youth Choir members are also encouraged to ring in Chapel Bells, which rehearses on Wednesday from 4:30-5:00 p.m.  The Middle School Youth Choir director is Ruth Nelson.

Praise Choir (3rd-5th Grade)

The Praise Choir is for children in grades 3-5th and contributes in the 11:00 a.m. service several times during the school year.  They rehearse on Wednesday from 4:45-5:15p.m.  All are welcome.  Many participants of Praise Choir also participate in Praise Bells, which rehearse on Wednesday from

5:15-5:45 p.m.  The Praise Choir director is Ruth Nelson.

Glory Choir (K-2nd Grade)

The Glory Choir is for children in grades K-2nd and contributes in the 8:30 a.m. service several times during the school year.  They rehearse on Wednesday from 4:30-4:45 p.m.  All are welcome.  Many participants of Glory Choir also participate in Glory Chimes, which rehearse on Wednesday from

4:45-5:00 p.m.  The Glory Choir director is Ruth Nelson.

Instrumental Ensembles

Chancel Bells (Adult)

The Chancel Bells is a five octave hand bell ensemble for adults ages 18 and up.  They contribute in the 11:00 a.m. service once a month and rehearse on Sunday from 12:10-1:00 p.m.  Their director is Kyle Webber.

Carillon Bells (9th - 12th Grade)

The Carillon Bells is a hand bell ensemble for youth in grades 9-12th and contribute in the 11:00 a.m. service once a month.  They rehearse on Sunday from 11:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m. and welcome new members.  Their director is Ruth Nelson.

Chapel Bells (6th - 8th Grade)

The Chapel Bells is a hand bell ensemble for youth in grades 6-8th and contribute in the 11:00 a.m. service once a month.  They rehearse on Wednesday from 4:30-5:00 p.m. and welcome new members.  Chapel Bells members are also encouraged to sing in the Middle School Youth Choir, which rehearses on Wednesday from 5:15-5:45 p.m.  The Chapel Bells director is Martha Weber.

Praise Bells (3rd - 5th Grade)

The Praise Bells is a hand bell ensemble for children in grades 3-5th and contribute in the 11:00 a.m. service once a month.  They rehearse on Wednesday from 5:15-5:45 p.m. and welcome new members.  Many participants of Praise Bells also participate in Praise Choir, which rehearses on Wednesday from 4:45-5:15 p.m.  The Praise Bells director is Martha Weber.

Glory Chimes (K-2nd Grade)

Glory Chimes is a hand chime choir for children in grades K-2nd and contribute in the 8:30 a.m. service several times during the school year.  They rehearse on Wednesday from 4:45-5:00 p.m. and welcome new members.  Many participants of Glory Chimes also participate in Glory Choir, which rehearses on Wednesday from 4:30-4:45 p.m.  The Glory Chimes director is Mary Oesterle.

Orchestra

The Chelsea First Orchestra is an intergenerational group, which provides an opportunity for instrumental musicians of all ages and levels of ability to participate in worship. The Orchestra participates seasonally (Christmas and Easter) in worship and occasionally during other times of the year.  The director of the Orchestra is Warren McArthur.

Wing 'n a Prayer

This contemporary Christian rock group plays a mix of things, such as music from groups and artists like..... Far from Home, Clay Crosse, Three Crosses, Rich Mullins, Michael W. Smith, For Him and other music by secular artists that have a profound religious message.  The director is Lynn Harshbarger.

Renew Band

The Renew Band is responsible for leading congregational singing at our 8:30 a.m. worship service.  They are made up of singers, guitarists, and a rhythm section that lead fresh, lively, upbeat music for congregational singing.  The Renew Band rehearses on Thursday 7:30-9:00 p.m.  The director of the Renew Band is Kyle Webber.
